Join us in the Celebration of Summer Solstice and the Sacred and Secular Father/Mother God within us ALL ín Song and Silence...

Let us  worship with open minds and open hearts in the Quaker style of contemplative worship at Smithfield Friends’ community worship service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. This service, led by Interfaith Minister Rev. Natalia deRezendes, will feature songs Sacred and Secular honoring the Summer solstice and the Father/Mother God within us all

Sunday's worship service will highlight hymns and music from many cultures, offered by Paul Donnelly, tenor; Felice Desmarais, soprano: with insturmentalists Kevin Sullivan, on guitar and Maria DiNitto on flute.

You will hear tunes both sacred and secular honoring the Solstice with “Morning has Broken” revived in the 70’s by Cat Stevens,   and “Pass it On” of Kurt Kaiser 1969.  . Honoring the sacred Divine Masculine with …Malotte’s The Lord’s Prayer, Our Father by Rev Father Andre Patenaude, O My Papa revived in 1954 by Eddie Fisher….Also honoring the Divine Feminine with songs about Mary, Mother of Jesus,  with Schubert’s Ave Maria, and via the French Canadian Roman Catholic repertoire of old…J’irai la voir un jour…..and the Portuguese Our Lady of Fatima Tradition with “Treze de Maio”….Finally we will end our service with Let there be Peace on Earth……1955 of Jill and Sy Miller…..and This Little Light of Mine….from the 20’s of Henry Loes…….

at 10:30 a.m. in the lovely, historic Smithfield Friends Meetinghouse, 108 Smithfield Road on the Woonsocket/North Smithfield line (across from Union Cemetery).
